RSS & Podcasting — Select information that comes to you via the Internet!

"RSS or 'really simple syndication' allows information to be delivered to you automatically without you having to go seek it out every time. Conceptually, think of tv shows that are syndicated or broadcast in a number of places. Podcasting is a way to deliver audio information which can be accessed via computer, pda, cell phone or mp3 player." Choltco-Devlin/Berry.

Canfield Inspires Central New York to Envision, Believe, Act

There have been SO MANY stories about how people were touched, or events that have realized the Law of Attraction in work, or inspirational moments, moments of gratitude, moments of negatives turn positive.

The Professional Development Committee has created a blog to "tell your stories" or provide valuable feedback on the event. Please seriously consider sharing and asking your friends and family to do the same.

Two Professional Development Seminars

Friday, March 19, 2010 ~ Rome Free Academy Auditorium 95 Dart Circle ~ Rome, NY

Register now... download and submit the Registration Form (pdf).

8am to 12noon

Jay Rifenbary, president of Rifenbary Training & Development, author and owner of the “No Excuse!” Training Seminar Series will conduct a seminar entitled:

“No Excuse! – Incorporating Core Values, Accountability and Balance into Your Life & Career”.

Mr. Rifenbary's “No Excuse! – Incorporating Core Values, Accountability, and Balance into Your Life and Career” program validates the importance for all of us that certain principles and skills still matter when it comes to the success of both our personal and professional lives. “No Excuse!” is built on a solid foundation of core values, self–responsibility, organizational accountability, integrity and purpose. Principles such as self control, personal respect, forgiveness, passion, and attitude are just a sampling of other ideas that will be presented. Having a greater understanding of the importance of consistency in behavior, decisiveness, and personal honesty will only enhance an individual's productivity and efficiency in the work place. Ultimately this contributes to the overall atmosphere and productivity of the organization. “No Excuse!” will contribute to an individual's ability to lead, manage, sell and most importantly set a positive and professional example for themselves and others. It will establish for each participant a greater level of personal understanding leading to a more satisfying, fulfilling and productive career.

2pm to 4pm

Sue Stephenson, Vice President of The Ritz–Carlton Social Responsibility Program, Community Footprints, will present:

“Adding Value Through Social Responsibility and Community Engagement”

The Ritz–Carlton's “Adding Value Through Social Responsibility and Community Engagement” demonstrates how to connect social responsibility and community engagement strategies to business practices. This will build trust with customers, attract and retain employees, and bring value to their businesses. This program highlights The Ritz–Carlton's commitment to stewardship and sustainability as highlighted in the book, “The New Gold Standard,” written by Joseph Michelli. For those organizations looking to create and deploy an effective social responsibility strategy, this training program will provide a roadmap. Participants will learn and understand: the rewards, benefits and challenges of developing and deploying a social responsibility strategy; how an effective social responsibility platform engages employees, customers and the community; and how to leverage core competencies in making a positive impact.

The Professional Development Committee (PDC) of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Rome City School District, is pleased to invite you to attend these exceptional programs which will benefit the employer and the employee alike and which will continue the Chamber's history of bringing world class training and development opportunities to the Rome area.

PDC Chairman Greg Mattacola encourages people to contact the Chamber office if interested in attending either or both programs. “This is a continuation of the informational seminars PDC has been presenting to Central New York in recent years. In 2006, we brought the Disney Institute to Rome for a full–day seminar entitled, 'The Disney Keys to Excellence' and in 2008, Jack Canfield, author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, presented his 'Mastering the Success Principles' and 'Law of Attraction' programs. We have been told by our customers, the business owners of the Rome area, that there is a need for high caliber training and development, and it is our pleasure to continue to serve that need. Both these programs promise to provide invaluable information to our constituents.”

Pre-registration is required. Registrants who cancel on or before March 1, 2010 will receive a refund of registration fee minus a 10% handling surcharge. After March 1, no refund will be given, although substitutions of individuals may be made prior to the start of the program. Cancellations must be made by calling the registration office directly at (315) 337-1700. The Rome Area Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to cancel the program(s) described in this publication for any reason. If a program is cancelled, a full refund will be given.

Don't delay — download and submit the Registration Form (pdf) now! You will get an additional discount by registering for both programs, or you may register for either the morning or afternoon program.
